The National Day of Iran and the ceremony marking the 47th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran was held on the evening of Tuesday, February 10, 2026, in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, with notable attendance of guests from the host country and other nations.
The event was attended by prominent figures including the Minister of Information and Telecommunications of Serbia, deputy ministers and senior officials from various ministries and government institutions, the ambassadors of Russia and China, ambassadors of Islamic countries, as well as other ambassadors, senior diplomats, and military attachés from Asian, Arab, African, and Latin American countries. Political and cultural figures, religious leaders, distinguished guests from various sectors of Serbian society, and members of the Iranian community residing in Serbia were also present.
Following the playing of the national anthems of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the host country, Mohammad Sadegh Fazli, Ambassador of Iran to Serbia, delivered a speech. He noted that the Islamic Revolution of Iran was a manifestation of the will of a nation that triumphed in 1979, relying on its faith, historical identity, and desire for independence, and embarked on a path of independence, freedom, justice, and rejection of domination—a path that continues to this day.
He added that the Iranian nation continues its progress and has achieved significant growth by relying on its own capabilities, recording notable achievements in various domestic and international fields despite years of unjust sanctions and economic pressures.
The ambassador further emphasized that the Islamic Revolution opened a new chapter in Iran’s foreign policy, under which the Islamic Republic of Iran seeks to expand relations with all countries and organizations, viewing itself as a responsible, independent, and influential actor in the region and the world. Iran has consistently supported dialogue, multilateralism, and cooperation to promote peace, stability, and sustainable development. Within this framework, Iran and Serbia have enjoyed nearly nine decades of official and friendly diplomatic relations, and under the support of political leadership in both countries, bilateral cooperation has expanded in political, cultural, academic, sports, and other fields.
Following the ambassador’s speech, a short film introducing Iran—depicting the country’s rich history and culture as well as its capabilities in scientific, technological, and economic sectors—was screened. Additionally, a cultural program highlighting linguistic commonalities between Iran and Serbia was performed and warmly received by the guests.
